Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 6, 2024. We are very pleased to announce that we have been received at the Embassy of Malaysia by Her Excellency, Ms. Nineta Barbulescu, the Ambassador of Romania in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. During the meeting, the opportunities for collaboration between Romania and Malaysia in the field of technology were discussed. The discussions emphasized the desire to involve the skills of Romanian specialists in joint projects, considering that there are already Romanian companies interested in expanding in this area, along with other markets in Asia. The openness to university collaboration, knowledge exchange and the formation of joint research and development teams was also highlighted. We have already established a concrete agenda for the next period. “We are excited about the potential of this collaboration and the prospects it brings for both countries. Our technology experts can contribute significantly to innovative projects in Malaysia, and partnerships with the university environment will be essential for long-term success. We have very good specialists in cyber security, artificial intelligence, digitization solutions, IoT. We can involve these skills in successful partnerships.” said Alin Niță, President of ATIC. Malaysia is known for its rapid progress in the technology sector, with a steady increase in investment in digital infrastructure. The size of the ICT market in Malaysia is estimated at USD 27 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 40 billion by 2029. Investment in IT&C continues to be high, mainly due to the launch of 5G, hybrid business models, digital banking and consumers who keep pace with the latest trends. The Malaysian government’s economic stimulus package provides significant financial incentives for digital transformation, connectivity, security, satellite broadband, digital infrastructure for buildings, 5G ecosystems and process automation. The government has given the Internet of Things (IoT) sub-sector significant attention, which has led to several market alliances. Malaysia aspires to be a digital powerhouse for the region. It is eager to increase the attractiveness of the country for entrepreneurs and investors. We thank Remus Pașca for the support offered in this endeavor and for promoting international collaboration in the field of technology. ATIC organizes Romania’s presence in this part of Asia, by participating in exhibitions and economic missions, but also through collaborations with institutes and the business environment. Founded in 1990, the Association for Information Technology and Communications in Romania is the first association of the IT&C sector in Romania.
