ATIC

Mr. Prof. Vasile Baltac, President of ATIC, participates on Friday, 16.10.2020, in the online event “Digital Europe – How do we combat digital illiteracy?”, to find out more information about this phenomenon and, implicitly, about how the European Union fights against its spread.

Even if access to the Internet and the use of social networks have become routine for most Romanians, few of them have the digital skills necessary to learn or facilitate their work at work. This is where digital illiteracy comes in – a phenomenon as little known as it is widespread.???? A report carried out by Eurostat in 2019 shows that:????↘️ ½ of the Romanian population between the ages of 16 and 74 has insufficient digital skills;????↗️ 10% of Romanians have advanced digital skills. Fortunately, the European Union is working to improve this situation, in order to adapt more easily to the continuous changes generated by accelerated digitization.

The event was also attended by Mrs. Doina Popa – vice president of Codette, an organization made up of people passionate about technology, which promotes education and equal opportunities in the technical field, and Mrs. Nicoleta Boldea – coordinating director of the Computer Training Center GMB Computers Constanța.

This event is created within the project “#GenerationEU – Promoters of European democracy”, initiated by the Office of the European Parliament in Romania; the opinions expressed during the event do not necessarily represent the official position of the European Parliament.
