ATIC

The Digital World: Essential Concepts

An event book on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute for Computing Technology (ITC). The IT revolution, which recently became the fourth industrial revolution, would have reached Romania much more slowly and with difficulties without the contribution of the powerful research forum that was ITC in the years 1968-1990.

The book, which contains impressive testimonies about the life of the ITC, as seen by dozens of contributors, is a true documentary material for the history of computers in Romania.

The book presents the basic notions for understanding the digital era, general digital skills, data, information and knowledge, computer systems, equipment and programs that make them up. Basic communications and Internet knowledge is present, including web searching and email issues. A topic of some interest is the security of digital systems, the book being useful for awareness of the dangers of the digital world and the tools to protect against them.

Myths and reality in the digital world

A book that discusses topics of interest regarding the digital world: The digital world is for everyone, digital illiteracy, who is afraid and who is not afraid of Facebook, Facebook and the conspiracy theory, the technological revolution – danger or opportunity?!, the computer already thinks like a human?, where have the electronic tubes disappeared, the digital flood, the digital divide, eGovernment: fashion or necessity?, the smart city, the price of digital (in)competence, the past, present and future in Romanian IT and other current topics.
