Mr. PROF Vasile Baltac participated online, on 17.02.2023, in the hybrid conference “Culture and Digital Heritage and XR Show with the launch of NFT Spotlight Heritage Timișoara”, an event dedicated to the official opening of the Cultural Program Timișoara, European Capital of Culture 2023. With those present at the Museum of the Polytechnic University Timișoara, he discussed MECIPT 1,2,3, the role of the MECIPT collective as a generator of innovation and training of IT specialists, the current state of digital technologies… “An interesting question I was asked was whether 60 years ago I predicted today’s digital revolution. I answered that I felt the miniaturization, I even wrote articles about the decentralization of computing power and applications. But, no one in the world in the 1960s could foresee the phenomenal development of artificial intelligence and its impact on our lives.. I recalled a current law that says that the interval between impactful breakthroughs in the digital world is continually halving and the November 2023 launch of ChatGPT is a signal that today’s youth will live in exciting times!” said Mr. Prof. Dr. Vasile Baltac during the conference. The debate was moderated by Professor Diana Andone, director of the eLearning Center of UPT. A NFT (Non-Fungible Token) Spotlight Heritage-Timisoara2023 digital asset dedicated to UPT and MECIPT was also launched during the conference. NFT also contains the text “You explain the development of science and we help describe the examples” which was the first automatic translation made by a computer in Romania in 1962, respectively with MECIPT 1.
